About the event
The Magic of Chanting
We will chant two mantras from the Sikh tradition, each used to restore, balance, and align our bodies.
4theSongBirdS is hosted by sound worshiper, DJ, and Kundalini yoga teacher Christine-Renée,
but the magic is activated when we chant as a community. Together, we strengthen the intention.
Our voice, made of breath and body, is already something to rejoice in. When we begin to sing together, we enter the warm, healing embrace of giving and receiving.
And you don’t need to know how to “sing well.” Simply be there and want to share these moments of connection.
Movement & Community
Shake it : The session begins with a short warm-up series to prepare for meditative sitting. The warm-up is suitable for all bodies and experience levels. Pregnant people are welcome, too, with adaptations to the movement and breath practices offered as needed.
Community : People of all ages are welcome. There is a lot of sitting, but a chair can be provided if needed.
Children are welcome as long as they can stay on their mat for the session.
The Mantras
We will practise two mantras:
1. Adi Shakti Mantra — think embodied, sun-powered chakra tune-up
2. Siri Gayatri Mantra — make way for a cloudburst of astral glitter
We will chant each mantra for 22 minutes, with a break in between.
We’ll review the meaning and history of the mantras and explore how to work with them physically, using breath and visualization to embody the sounds we make.
Additional details about the mantras, and how to practise them before our circle, are available upon request. See the contact email below.
Share a Bowl
Around 9:00 pm, we will close the circle and move into the kitchen for bread and a bowl of vegan soup. Anyone who would like to stay is welcome.
